In a recent SLVCG’s director showcase, KingZ Potato’s journey into the world of directing was highlighted.
Notably, KingZ’s early Second Life experiences were characterized by fun times with friends, taking photos dressed in themes from pop culture references like True Blood and Friends.
A notable moment in KingZ’s directorial career came during the recording of an event, when he realized towards the end that he hadn’t been recording but managed to salvage enough footage for a successful video.
As a solo director, KingZ’s first gig was the New Year’s Eve event at Eden.
He continued to capture the club life scene, shooting events at venues like Club Drip and Club New It.
His video from Club New It, with its unique scenes and large avatar count, proved to be a big success, garnering over 3,860 views on Flicker.
KingZ’s skills extend beyond event vlogging to product vlogging, music video creation, and podcasting.
His most recent project was a submission for the Fantasy Fair 2023, an epic Viking battle film titled “Vikings” which won two Waffle awards for best sound and best choreography.
KingZ is currently planning on taking a break from his directorial pursuits, with future plans involving a computer upgrade and the development of a 1920s Mafia film and a club life RP film.
His story is a testament to his hard work, talent, and the friendships he’s made along the way, demonstrating the potential of Second Life as a platform for creative expression and community building.

Nitroglobus Roof Gallery, under the curatorship of Dido Haas, recently opened its doors to “Through Their Eyes,” an exhibition by Caly Applewhyte, otherwise known as Calypso Applewhyte.
Following the gallery’s previous exhibition “Yes Her”, “Through Their Eyes”, launched on June 5th, aims to spark a conversation about societal bias towards women and their struggle to freely express themselves.
As per Applewhyte’s statement, the exhibition shines a light on the women’s often underappreciated experiences and perspectives, demonstrating how societal expectations can negatively impact their self-esteem and confidence.
Despite these societal pressures, women continue to show resilience and contribute significantly across various fields.
Applewhyte’s work promotes the necessity of gender equality, seeking to foster a more equitable society.
The exhibition showcases a variety of individual studies representing women from diverse ethnicities and backgrounds, with the focus primarily on the subject’s eyes rather than skin color, hair, or dress.
These eyes, according to Applewhyte, communicate intelligence, vitality, hope, and strength – traits often celebrated in men but ignored or diminished in women.
The exhibition underlines the inherent struggle women face in seeking acceptance and respect in societies still influenced by patriarchal norms, inviting viewers to perceive the world from women’s perspective.
Feorie Frimon has released a short machinima titled ‘The Doll Maker’s Dream’, showcasing a captivating narrative of a doll brought to life through the artistry of the dollmaker.
Set to the rhythm of ‘Flip’ by Beats Antique, this piece sees the lifeless doll break into a dance, providing a mesmerizing visual treat for viewers.
Frimon underscores that this project was self-initiated, created purely for enjoyment and to hone machinima skills, as opposed to any form of commissioned work.

Experience the “Invisible Self” at the Kondor Art Center, where you’re invited to delve into the concealed dimensions of existence and rejoice in the potency of the unseen.
Join us at the Main Art Gallery as Daruma Boa presents “Archetypes: Universal Symbols of the Collective Unconscious.”
Archetypes, those timeless patterns or images, resonate within the depths of every human being, transcending culture, race, and religion.
They embody distinct qualities, behaviors, and emotions that are universally shared.
In my work, I explore archetypes through the lens of Qabbalah, the Jewish mystery tradition, as it provides a logical framework for comprehending the interconnectedness of our universe.
It offers valuable insights into the forces that bind our reality.
Step into the captivating world of “The Ferry” at Kondor Photo Gallery.
As the river awakens, it teems with life, carrying dreams that linger on the vessel.
Lives stir, in a rush, to cross to the other side, embracing a new day amidst the flowing waters of the Tejo River.
The crowd boards slowly, then hastens, racing toward the city.
Lisbon swiftly fills with lives engulfed by subway tunnels and overflowing buses.
For some, the day commences at night, while for others, it concludes at dawn.
These are the ones whom morning spills into the day, bodies staggering, once consumed by the night, now dazed by the rising sun on the horizon.
Silently, they enter the awaiting city, where their lives beckon from across the river.
Midday arrives, and the “Cacilheiro” grins, extending a welcome to those who come to explore the river and its merging with the sea.
The relaxed and enchanted seekers of a tranquil aspect of life, the Visitors.
Mesmerized by the bridge that unifies us all, they arrive in search of the promised Blue, guided by blinking tablets and cell phones, following tourist itineraries.
From distant lands they come, yearning to discover the Sun and the Sea, to be enthralled.
The Tagus River forever teems with souls.
